Our People

Suntory Coffee is made up of a diverse group of people who possess a strong passion for all things coffee. From sales to finance, customer service and production, each and every person within Suntory Coffee is passionate about ensuring from bean to cup, our coffees are the most loved, most consumed and most visible across Australia and New Zealand. We have profiled some of our coffee experts, connoisseurs and enthusiasts across the Suntory Coffee business, below you’ll find their stories.

Our People

Dean Divehall
Dean DivehallChief Executive Officer
Our CEO, Dean Divehall, is a passionate communicator and creative powerhouse. With degrees in Architecture, Law and Commerce, and over 15 years of senior marketing and management experience in Australasia, Dean is a great leader, change-maker and communicator.

Dean joined us in 2014, bringing with him substantial FMCG experience, including roles as Managing Director of NZ’s largest snack food business, Bluebird Foods, and Managing Partner at Publicis Mojo Australia.
As you might imagine, Dean’s downtime is still action-orientated. If he’s not spending time with family, Dean’s keeping fit or painstakingly restoring heritage properties.

Jared Chapman
Jared ChapmanGroup Customer Manager
Jared is the Group Customer Manager for McDonalds across Australia and New Zealand, and our coffee chain customers across Australia.
Jared’s passion for coffee started at a young age whilst working in a variety of cafe’s where he was exposed to the art of making a great cup of coffee. From there he knew he wanted to work with coffee and joined the Mocopan team in 2010 as a barista trainer and has since held a number of key positions within the coffee business such as National Coffee Training Manager and most recently the role of Team Leader Coffee which included leading the strategy and execution for our Cafe Sales team.
In his free time he loves to grow his own veggies and staying active with a variety of sports and activities. Most recently, he’s putting his height to good use playing basketball.
Masako Yamamoto
Masako YamamotoCoffee Specialist and Trainer
Masako Yamamoto is the Coffee Specialist and Trainer at Atomic Coffee Roasters. Joining Atomic in 2011 as a Barista, Masako worked her way up the ranks, where she moved into her current position in 2015. Masako is truly passionate about coffee; she’s involved with the New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association and has actively helped contestants from Atomic who have entered the New Zealand Barista Championship and Latte Art Championships. Outside of work, Masako enjoys cooking for friends and family as well as spending time gardening and visiting the various art galleries that Auckland has to offer.
Paul Cockburn
Paul CockburnHead of L'affare
Paul Cockburn’s tenure with L’affare started with him waiting tables in their iconic College Street cafe over twenty years ago. Since then, Paul has held a role in almost every department from delivering to wholesale customers, Sales to Marketing to Operations and since the end of 2017 the head of L’affare. Paul’s passion for coffee and equipment grew with these experiences; he knows how to brew a great coffee and is fascinated with the equipment that does it. Outside of work, you’ll find Paul either creating well thought out dishes at home and spending time with his twin sons.
Scott Pepler
Scott PeplerOperations Manager NZ
Scott Pepler joined the company in November 2000 as a Quality Assurance Technician. Since then, he has held almost every role imaginable within the NPD department, climbing the ranks and has most recently been appointed Operations Manager NZ for Suntory Coffee. Scott’s a coffee man from way back, with active involvement in the New Zealand Specialty Coffee industry while juggling his huge responsibilities which include growing our coffee offering. Outside of work you’ll find Scott spending time with his wife and two children or whipping up a top notch brew at home.
Stephanie Degiorgio
Stephanie DegiorgioOperations Manager, Toby's Estate
Stephanie started her career in the food industry as a Food Technologist and quickly found that her passion lies in tactical, hands-on work which lead her into operational roles in the coffee industry.
Stephanie has always been passionate about making a difference and the coffee industry has allowed her the opportunity to do so in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
Outside of work you will find Stephanie cooking up a feast for her friends and family, spending time at the beach or relaxing at home with a nice bottle of red.
